1965 Gottlieb Flipper Pool
I had to drive a couple hours North to pick this machine up, it was in a basement, like many are, not the greatest storage. Because of this, there was a kind of residue on the play field that made it much more difficult to clean up. This is not a title that comes up often, so I was happy to find one.
This machine has a new back glass reproduction, just as the original. There was too much flaking in the original glass to display nicely. The play field came out really nice on this machine, after hours of detailing. The pop bumpers were completely rebuilt. All the lighting was gone through, and new bulbs through out.
This earlier Gottlieb used bigger, 6" steel score reels. They operate very smoothly now, all the mechanics have been cleaned and adjusted. There was a challenging electrical issue which I finally diagnosed to be a ground strap in one of the stepper boards, but visually, it appeared to be fine.
The game play is great, and challenging with 2" flippers. The goal is to bank as many balls as possible, extra balls provided when you bank 8, 11, 14, and 15 balls, then bank resets. Add-A-Ball games are a lot of fun. This also shows the balls left to bank on the back glass, as you score each number the lights on the pool table go out. Great early era Gottlieb classic. This one will reside in our old school game room.
